What is your favourite surgery to peform?
It is very difficult to say. I guess my favourites are those extreme changes I could perform in Extreme Makeover Project. You know the feeling, you can use all the operations and techniques you have in mind and to see the final results … It was so rewarding.
What motivates you to do your job?
I like to get nice results, I like beauty.
What is the number one piece of advide you would offer people considering surgery?
Fat transfer! It is investment to your future.
Fat transplantation is 300 times better than fillers. Fillers are good, but fat is part of our own body and is full on regerative cells. It means you can stay younger for a longer period. Stem cells are basically your own cells that are relocated to another part of your body to become other cells. The stem cells have the ability to transform into blood vessels which the new fat cells need to thrive.
When you compare 2 different 40 years old people – one who have had a fat tranplantation procedure and another who have not – you see a big difference. I recommend to start with the fat transfer procedures at 35.
In general, what do you think will be trends of the furture?
Again, regenerative medicine, fat tranfer.
Ageing is happening on a cellular level at every second, so to slow this process and look younger for a longer period of time, we should use regenerative material of our body. Fat transfer is procedure that definitely pays off and becomes more and more popular.
What does beauty look like according to a plastic surgeon?
Our, plastic surgeons, demand is very high. You can be pretty and nice, but for us, the specialist, to say that you are beautiful is very rare. When we talk about beauty, we talk about right proportions, face shape, skin, etc. A true beauty is very rare in nature.
Psychologically, how much difference can cosmetic treatment make to a patient?
We got a really great experinece with Extreme Makeover Project in Estonia, where partinicapants lives changed 180 degrees. I saw how happy and confident they were and how deeply those cosmetic treatments affected their well-being.
What is your favourite quote?
If you want to do good to your patient and give her or him the best results, you must do it like you would do it for yourself.’ My teacher told it to me more than 30 years ago and I have lived by this idea for all my life.
