As a nutrition expert, what does a healthy diet mean for you?
For me, a healthy diet is one that is balanced and based on individual needs. When planning your diet, genetics, any possible health issues as well as food preferences should be taken into account. Oftentimes, people just don’t know what and how much to eat. We can find numerous nutrition tables and food pyramids online, but actually, these do not suit most people.
How is your nutrition counselling different from others?
I think nutrition counselling is a cooperation and a gradual process. I don’t just give advice to people on what they should eat, but also recommend that they have their health indicators checked, and I observe their general health status – the results of the blood count, any earlier diagnoses by doctors, etc. I have prepared a very thorough questionnaire. For example, overweight could be caused by metabolic syndrome or a disorder in the body’s functioning.
Furthermore, I am very much interested in hormonal health. I can share with my customers the connections between hormonal health and food, how to support your body during menopause, etc. Stress and microflora are also subjects I like to discuss during nutrition counselling. For example, your metabolism may be affected by a stressful event, a surgery and recovery, a health issue, etc.
I like working with people and I know I can help them a lot with my knowledge and skills.
At Christinas Clinic, on-the-spot blood tests can be ordered to identify the supply of vitamins in the body, whether there are any infections or if a person is suffering from anaemia, etc. In addition to the nutrition advisor, medical staff can be involved as well, who can help analyse the health issues and identify any problems.
