A talented young gynecologist, dr. Johanna Sell, has joined Christinas Clinic
Christinas Clinic is proud to welcome gynecologist Dr. Johanna Sell to its team – a true professional who combines extensive medical knowledge with empathetic communication skills. Dr. Sell graduated cum laude from the University of Tartu Faculty of Medicine, earning high praise from both her lecturers and employers.
“Achieving cum laude was a major recognition for my six years of dedication to my studies. A strong sense of responsibility and a genuine interest in my subjects also played a crucial role,” Dr. Sell reflects.
Her decision to pursue a career in medicine was made early on: “I’ve wanted to become a doctor since the seventh grade, when biology classes became particularly fascinating. I chose my specialty after completing the gynecology cycle in my fifth year of studies.”
In modern medicine, Dr. Sell values empathy, delicate communication, politeness, and respect for the patient above all. She also emphasizes the importance of continuous professional development – most recently, she advanced her skills at the international IMCAS conference in Paris, which focused on the latest trends in aesthetic and reconstructive surgery.
At Christinas Clinic, Dr. Sell specializes in intimate surgery. Women who seek her help often face concerns they might not even share with their closest friends. Whether it involves congenital conditions or bodily changes related to aging, Dr. Sell provides an environment where these topics can be discussed objectively and without prejudice.
“There are entire books describing the wide variety of normal labia minora shapes. However, certain forms and sizes can cause discomfort or pain in various situations – during physical activities, when wearing specific clothing, or during intimate relationships. In such cases, a patient’s concerns certainly deserve attention,” she explains.
According to Dr. Sell, finding the right solution together with the patient is just as important as the procedure itself: “During a consultation, we can explore, based on the patient’s concerns and anatomy, how we can best assist. A consultation does not necessarily have to lead to surgery. What matters is that any change comes from the patient’s own desire.”
At Christinas Clinic, building a trusting relationship between patients and staff is highly valued. Especially with delicate issues, taking the first step is often the hardest. “I understand that these concerns are sensitive. That’s why it is particularly important for women to feel understood,” Dr. Sell affirms.
