PRP blood plasma treatment is an injection procedure that can be used to stimulate hair growth, rejuvenate skin, and much more.

Currently in medicine, including in anti-aging medicine, personal cell treatment is a rapidly growing trend. Even though at Christinas Clinic cell treatment in the form of fat transfer has been done for already 15 years, now cell treatment is also available as an injection procedure called PRP (platelet rich plasma).

PRP is a type of plasma that contains thrombocytes and growth factors, which has been extracted from the patient’s own blood. The benefit of blood plasma treatment is the minimal risk of complications. There are no rejection reactions, since the patient’s own tissues are used in the treatment. PRP stimulates the synthesis of collagen and hyaluronic acid, the formation of new blood vessels and fat cells, the growth of keratinocytes, and it increases the number of fibroblasts.

1) Stimulating hair growth and preventing hair loss

Very good results have been shown in the treatment of androgenic alopecia, where PRP stimulates the proliferation and differentiation of the stem cells in the hair follicle. We recommend PRP procedures for our patients also before and after hair transplantation, to achieve optimal and long-lasting results.

2) Skin rejuvenation

As a result of PRP, the skin’s elasticity, tonus, texture, tone, moisture level, and evenness are improved, wrinkles and dark circles under eyes are reduced. The growth factors improve cell repair in damaged regions and make healing processes faster, which also gives good results for scar treatment (keloid, acne and stretch marks), as well as post-laser treatment (for example, after fractional laser exfoliation).

Procedure at Christinas Clinic

During the blood plasma treatment, the patient’s venal blood is extracted with a special syringe. After that, plasma with thrombocytes is separated from the blood by centrifuging, and then injected into the treatment area with thin needles. If needed, local anaesthesia creams are used before treatment for alleviating pain. The procedure is repeated at an interval of a few weeks up to 3 times.

Especially good results can be achieved when combining different treatments, such as the PRP with stem cells separated from fat cells (SVF or stromal vascular fraction). When combining PRP with fat transfer, it is possible to improve volume loss and the longevity and effectiveness of the fat transfer. Good results can also be achieved by combining PRP with hyaluronic acid.
